Some quick tips to help you find opportunities that might be out there:

1. Keep a proactive approach, don’t expect things to fall into your lap.

2. If you are going to school in the area where you plan on practicing, get out there and start visiting

some of the local practitioners.

3. If you are going to optometry school in a place where you aren’t planning on practicing, then pick up

the phone and start making calls to the doctors in the area you do want to practice. Those

practitioners who really want to help you out will help you spread the word and you will get a sense

of where the opportunities are.

4. During you breaks from school, take the opportunity to have a good conversation with these

practitioners, keep in touch with them and build these relationships.

So, get out of your comfort zone and make sure you are doing something to get your name out there!
