Patients with ocular surface conditions do not always present with obvious symptoms. For example, meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) is traditionally observed as an inflammation of glands and easily diagnosed, but there is also hyposecretory obstructive MGD. In this nonobvious form of the disease, signs of pathology may be absent without special examination techniques. This video explains how clinicians should examine lid margins on all patients to assess the presence of this condition.
