Dry eye disease is a chronic, progressive condition, and patients experience a continuum of dryness. The ocular damage caused by DED can become irreversible, and we now know that we cannot trust objective signs to correlate with patients’ symptoms. Lemp’s research has shown us that 50% of dry eye patients have MGD. Today, we identify the root cause of DED in order to best tailor treatment.
