The body has an amazing immune response. Our ability to fight infection and foreign invaders is beyond what science has fully explained. One of those challenges is seen when we wear contact lenses. Many of our patients do get an infection at some point. This is when the barrier function is not able to ward off the invaders and either a microbial or inflammatory reaction occurs.
