Look at the eyelids, glands, and the palpebral conjunctiva, and be sure to flip the upper lids, especially in contact lens wearers. Because a viral red eye can mimic other conditions, Drs. Brujic and Kading always perform an in-office diagnostic to rule out adenoviral conjunctivitis. Evaluate patients’ tears, the globe, and employ staining. Remember, there are no consistent patterns to patients’ redness.
